Jo Butler - Co-Director of Physio 1 to 1
Jo qualified in 1995 from Kings College London after completing a 4 year honours
degree course. Jo has always had a particular interest in neurology and after gaining
experience in other areas of physiotherapy she soon specialised in stroke and neurological
rehabilitation.
Jo has worked alongside Bobath tutors, herself training in the Bobath approach.
Whilst working in Australia Jo learned more about the Motor Relearning approach
popular in the southern hemisphere and now favours an evidence based approach using
both her normal movement and biomechanical knowledge to establish tailored rehabilitation
programmes.
Jo has worked for the last 7 years as a Clinical Specialist in neurological rehabilitation
for Surrey PCT at The Bradley Unit in Woking. Her clinical expertise includes treating
people following strokes, head injuries and long term conditions such as Multiple
Sclerosis and Parkinsons disease.
In 2001 Jo graduated from Oxford Radcliffe University with a post graduate certificate
in Posture Management. She then went on to complete a Masters degree in Rehabilitation
Science at Southampton University in 2004. Jo also has experience working as an
external lecturer at Southampton University and has spoken at a number of conferences.
Specialist Areas: Stroke and neuro-rehabilitation, 24 hour Posture Management, managing
long-term conditions, Functional Electrical Stimulation.
